About

I am a passionate, driven, and enthusiastic PhD student currently at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science, studying the role of petrogenic organic carbon in the carbon cycle using geochemical techniques. As a PhD student early in my career, my goals are to develop skills in scientific writing, learn new lab techniques, and work closely with my peers to become a well-rounded scientist. My passion for geology came during my undergraduate studies at Denison University, where I worked on a project using structural and seismic data to understand the mechanisms and rates of uplift in the Crazy Mountains, Montana USA. I have also done work in other areas, including my time as a Sustainability and Product Stewardship Intern at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. This role taught me the importance of working to decrease the carbon footprint in industrial companies, and ignited my passion for understanding carbon cycle dynamics, while also teaching me skills in communication, data analysis, and project management. I also dedicate time to community service, serving as the president of Denison’s chapter of the Food Recovery Network, the largest student-led movement fighting food waste in the country, for 3 years. I am looking to expand my network to those who are interested in geochemistry, carbon cycling, community outreach, or sustainability.
